The
27-year-old has opted to play his football at Herns Lane in the face of several
offers from elsewhere, upon his departure from league rivals Walthamstow, where
he has starred for the last three seasons.
The
former professional, who was on the books of League One Wycombe Wanderers for
two seasons between 2013 and 2015, began his career at now-Vanarama National
League outfit Cheshunt and was so impressive as a teenager, that the Chairboys
snapped him up on a two-year contract.
Upon
release from Adams Park, he spent loan spells with Bishop’s Stortford and
Chesham United, before taking a break from football, resuming his career by
joining Walthamstow.
The
move re-unites him with former manager, who had him under his charge for 18
months at Wadham Lodge.
Mitchell
told his club’s website: “Fletch was much in demand when he decided to move on
from Walthamstow. We’re delighted he has chosen Welwyn Garden City to further
his career. He’ll be a major player for us”.
