Celtic
announced the arrivals of Matty Carson and Dylan Moonan on a month’s loan from
SkyBet League One side Accrington Stanley, another loan arrival in Scott
Holding from Championship side Watford and the signing of Nathan Caine from
league rivals Stafford Rangers.
Defender
Carson spent the early past of this season on loan with Vanarama National
League North side AFC Telford United.
Carson,
who turns 20 on Monday, is a left-back who was with Liverpool for eight years
before moving Burnley at 14 and whilst with the Clarets, had loan spells with
Nelson and Padiham in the North West Counties League.
He
joined Accrington in 2021 and last season spent time on loan with Danske Bank
Premiership side Carrick Rangers in Northern Ireland.
Moonan,
a 20-year-old central midfielder, has followed a similar journey to Carson so
far, having also come through the ranks at Burnley before joining Accrington at
the same time as his team-mate in 2021.
Hailing
from Wigan, he’s known to be a box-to-box midfielder and spent 11 years with
Burnley before earning a professional contract at Accrington.
Caine (pictured),
19, joined Stafford in August from League Two side Mansfield Town.
Originally
from Stockport, he started his career with Rochdale before signing for
Mansfield in 2019 and making his senior debut in November 2020 as a second half
substitute in a 2-1 victory over Scunthorpe United in the EFL Trophy.
He
signed professional terms in May 2021 after impressing in the Stags` academy.
Later
that year he joined Southern League Premier Division Central outfit Nuneaton Borough
on loan, making 5 appearances, and has also had loan spells with Ilkeston Town
and Sutton Coldfield Town, where he played 10 games in the NPL Division One
Midlands last season.
Holding
arrives on a month's loan from Watford.
The
19-year-old central defender signed for Watford in May of this year from
Stockport County, where he captained the Hatters under-23 side.
Having
been with Manchester United, he rose through the ranks at County and signed his
first professional deal with the club last season.
He
made his first-team debut for the club in January 2022, featuring in an FA
Trophy tie against Larkhall Athletic.
He
also had a spell on loan with neighbours Ashton United before an impressive
display in a trial game for Watford saw the Championship side snap him up
permanently on a two-year deal earlier this year. |
