Chairman
Aron Sharpe told https://www.wingatefinchley.com: "Marc was appointed in
the summer of 2021 as part of a new and exciting team. Unfortunately results
and performances have just not been good enough. We both sat down and discussed
- it is very difficult to make a decision with someone who has given so much to
the club and is a club legend being the second highest appearance holder at
Wingate & Finchley. More so that I also hold him in high regard. However,
we both agreed it was in the best interest of the club.
“He
is a young man with a terrific future, and this will simply be a learning curve
as I expect for him to rebound and find himself a career as a football manager.
Honestly, he was thrown in at the deep end and we both knew it was sink or
swim. Marc was up for it and for that I can only respect him. It’s a very tough
results-driven industry and Wingate now have to start getting results
immediately. The club wishes Marc the best of luck in his next position, and he
knows he is always welcome at the club."
Director
of football Ahmet Rifat along with head coach Ricky Machel will take control
for Saturday's game at Canvey Island.
