| The 25-year-old former Everton and Newcastle United youth player joins the Latics on a non-contract basis having previously played 75 times in the National League with Chesterfield.
The centre-back had signed for the Spireites in July 2019 after being on loan from Premier League Newcastle from January 2019 until the end of the 2018/19 season.
He had just returned from a half-season loan spell at SkyBet League One side Morecambe before heading to the Spireites.
He joined Newcastle after leaving Everton in June 2017 and featured for the Magpies’ first team in their pre-season fixtures against St Patrick’s Athletic and Hull City the following summer.
He spent the first part of the 2018/19 season with the League Two Shrimps, making 25 appearances.
