Brundle has put pen-to-paper on an 18-month minimum contract with the option of an extension. The player-turned-manager will be the youngest coach in the dugouts in the UK, narrowly pipping ex-Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Ryan Mason, who was 29 when asked to step in. The 28-year-old is already looking forward to getting started and has plans in full swing after taking the role on a temporary basis following the departure of the outward departing Andy Hessenthaler. Brundle re-joined Dover in July 2022, initially as player/assistant-manager. He had signed for then-Southern Premier Division South side Farnborough in February 2022 after being released by National League side Barnet and helped Boro win promotion. He had moved to the Bees in July 2021 from league rivals Dagenham & Redbridge. He had been with the Daggers since July 2019 after arriving from Dover. He first signed for the Whites in June 2017 from Gateshead. The Londoner, who can play in midfield and at full-back, made 34 National League appearances for Gateshead before making the move to Crabble. He joined the Heed from Braintree Town after making 77 appearances for the Essex outfit. He was a member of Braintree side that finished third in the National League before losing to Grimsby Town in the play-off semi-finals in the 2015/16 season. He started his career in the youth ranks at Yeovil Town before joining Bristol City. While at City, he made 7 League appearances while out on loan at Cheltenham Town in the 2013/14 season. The new manager told https://www.doverathletic.com: “I am over the moon to be given this opportunity. I love this club and have always given everything both on and off the pitch. The football club means a lot to me, and I am looking forward at putting my own stamp on things.” Chairman Jim Parmenter added: “Mitch has done really well since he took the reigns. The team’s performances in the last three games show that we will have a bright future under his leadership along with Mike Sandmann”.
