Lavery has joined Rovers on an 18-month deal having spent the first half of the campaign with Scunthorpe, scoring 9 goals in 19 games and was the subject of interest from a number of clubs as his short-term contract reached its end. The 30-year-old signed for the Iron in late September 2022. Born in Canada, the former Northern Ireland and Canadian Youth international has played a part in three promotions throughout his career - one to League One and two to the Championship. He began his career with Sheffield Wednesday in 2012 and has also turned out for the likes of Southend United, Plymouth Argyle, Chesterfield, Portsmouth, Sheffield United, Rotherham United, Bury and Walsall. He spent the 2021/22 season with League Two side Bradford City and has made 252 career appearances, scoring on 47 occasions.
