The 21-year-old had only signed for the Eagles earlier in the month from Vanarama National League North side Kettering Town, where he had been since late September 2022. He joined Derby County at the age of 6 and progressed through the ranks. He featured for the under-18 and under-23s teams, before signing his first professional deal with the Rams in 2020. He went on to make his senior debut in Derby's goalless Championship draw against Brentford that same year and made 8 first team appearances in total. Redditch manager Matt Clarke told his club’s website: "It's a brilliant signing for us. Kornell has excellent pedigree having played 8 times in the Championship for Derby County. It's a testament to his talent that Wayne Rooney gave him his debut".
