Lynch joined Cables in October 2021 and guided the club to safety as they staved off relegation. His final game in charge was a 3-2 defeat at Newcastle Town - a result which leaves the club seventh in the league table, 4 points adrift of the play-off places. Lynch played for Cables earlier in his career and was Marine AFC’s first team manager between 2009 and 2013, and in his four full seasons, guided the team to top-half finishes in every campaign, with the highest placing of seventh in 2012. He left the Mariners to take up a full-time coaching role at then-Football League club Chesterfield, followed by a stint as manager at Colwyn Bay and has recently been scouting for Peterborough United. During a successful playing career as a combative midfielder, he won a Conference North championship medal under Liam Watson at Southport in 2005 and was also a member of the Vauxhall Motors side that famously knocked Queen’s Park Rangers out of the FA Cup in 2002. He also had a stint as a player for Marine before taking on the managerial role. A Prescot Cables statement reads: “The club wishes to express its appreciation to Kevin for his hard work and commitment that he has shown during his time at the club and wishes him the best of luck for the future.” Steve Daley has taken interim charge, with support from Peter Cumiskey who remains as assistant manager.
