Making a goalscoring debut for North Leigh on Saturday was young midfielder Tom Wynn-Davis. The 18-year-old joined the Millers on `work experience` for the rest of the season from League Two side Swindon Town, who he joined in November 2021. Wynn-Davies has one first-team appearance for Swindon under his belt, as he was brought on as a second half substitute for fellow academy graduate Abu Kanu in Town’s 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace under-21s in the EFL Trophy back in August. He’s already spent time out on loan this term, having had a short spell at Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Wantage Town where he certainly made his mark. He scored 7 times in his 8 appearances for The Freds, contributing 3 assists having joined them at the beginning of January. Wynn-Davis scored the third of North Leigh’s goals in their excellent 3-0 win at Merthyr just 7 minutes after coming off the bench. Also on the bench at the Met Coaches Stadium was defender Zak Mitchell. The 22-year-old strong centre-back joined the Millers on dual registration with Vanarama National League South side Chippenham Town. Mitchell (pictured) came through Chippenham’s youth ranks and signed dual registration forms with Southern Division One South side Slimbridge in the summer of 2022, having been on similar forms with then-league rivals Mangotsfield United in 2021/22. He joined another Southern Division One South outfit, Larkhall Athletic, in October 2022, also on dual terms.
