The now 40-year-old has joined as a favour to Faversham boss Sammy Moore, a former AFC Wimbledon team-mate, as the Kent side battle against relegation. After starting life with FK Atlantas in Lithuania, Wycombe will be the 14th British club Akinfenwa has signed for since joining Barry Town in 2003. He scored over 200 goals during his career which incorporated almost 700 games and all three of his last three clubs have gained promotion to League One whilst he was at the club. Known as `The Beast`, also counts Leyton Orient, Doncaster Rovers, Torquay United, Swansea City, Northampton Town and Gillingham before he initially retired last season at Wycombe. His playing career was seemingly over when he came off the bench for what then appeared to be his final match, losing 2-0 at Wembley in the League One play-off final to Sunderland, although he did take part in a pre-season friendly for Hashtag United.
