Starting the game was defender Josh Flanagan following his move from Vanarama National League North side Brackley Town. The 19-year-old, who has recently been on loan with Brackley’s league rivals Kettering Town, had been with the Saints since the summer of 2022 after being released by League Two neighbours Northampton Town. Milton Keynes-born, he had spells on loan at Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Corby Town, Southern Premier Division Central outfit St Ives Town and United Counties Premier Division South side Wellingborough Town whilst on the Cobblers` books. Also joining the Canaries but not involved on Saturday is former Leicester City midfielder Layton Ndukwu. The 24-year-old is a product of the Leicester academy. He joined then-League Two side Southend United on a season-long loan in August 2019, making his league debut in August 2019 but totalled only 7 appearances and was re-called by Leicester in January 2020 due to lack of game time. He was released by the Foxes in the summer of 2021 and subsequently spent time on trial at Portsmouth, however he was not offered a contract. Ndukwu (pictured), who has represented England at under-16 and under-17 level, returned to the game in August 2022 by joining Albanian Kategoria Superiore side FK Kukësi. Also joining Barwell and making his debut off the bench in Saturday’s comprehensive 4-0 win at Basford United was youngster Julian Donnery. The 17-year-old is on `work experience` from League One side Lincoln City where he is a regular in the Imps` under-18 side.
