| Mitchell arrived at the Lantern Stadium in November to take the position as assistant to then manager, Lee Protheroe.
Protheroe's reign was short though and he resigned at the beginning of March following one league win in thirteen matches.
Mitchell originally joined the Citizens in January 2022 and played occasionally in the latter part of the 2022/21 season, as well as helping with coaching throughout the club.
He was then appointed manager in May 2022.
He previously managed Walthamstow to success in the Essex Senior League in a dual role as director of football.
He has previous managerial experience with both Southern League Hertford Town and St Margaretsbury, also of the Essex Senior League.
Mitchell told the club’s website: “I’m delighted to take on the role as manager.
“I’m not one to turn down a challenge and I feel that through adversity positive things can happen given there is transparency from the start, a desire to improve day by day and a togetherness in the way we work.
“We are currently going through a rebuild phase which will take time, but we will be consistent with the strategy put in place.
“We have set realistic targets with the playing group with emphasis on looking to stabilise the team for next season and adding to the current group of players over pre-season”.
