Sam Heathcote has joined recent arrivals Tom Peers, Max Johnstone and Hayden Campbell in signing for the Silkmen. The centre-back was top appearance maker for NPL Division One West side Runcorn Linnets last season, making 54 appearances in all competitions. He scored 6 goals during that time, including one against Macclesfield in the Cheshire Senior Cup. The 26-year-old had signed for the Linnets in July 2022 from North West Counties League side West Didsbury & Chorlton, where he had been since the summer of 2021. He moved to West Didsbury from Linnets` league rivals Widnes, having joined them from North West Counties side Wythenshawe Town in May 2019. He began his career as a junior at Manchester United before moving on to Altrincham, making 51 appearances for the Robins. He has since turned out in the NPL for Hyde United, Trafford and Ramsbottom United – scoring 11 goals in 29 games for the latter as a makeshift striker in the 2017/18 season.
