Mountford, 38, replaces Eamonn Daly, who has become the club’s new Head of Senior Football. Mountford has been with Posset for two years and was the club’s captain last season. The 38-year-old experienced midfielder joined Southern Division One South club Paulton Rovers in 2018 from Tiverton Town. He has also been on the books at Longwell Green Sports, Brislington, Bristol Manor Farm, Clevedon Town, Bridgwater Town and Yate Town. He told his club’s website: “I am very pleased to try and take the club on to the next step. “I think it can go on to be one of the biggest clubs around in the future, but probably every club think that, I think it’s going to be small steps and improve everything off the field gradually and the same on it.” Mountford comes to Bristol Road with an impressive CV. This will be Mountford’s third stint as player-manager after holding down the role with both Bitton AFC and Paulton Rovers. Mountford joined Posset ahead of the 2021 /22 season, after managing Bitton for six months, leaving them second in the Western Premier. After being named captain for the 2022/23 campaign, Mountford was part of the side that finished in 13th place, the club’s highest ever finish in the Western League Division One. Director of Football James Hughes said they are delighted to have hired Mountford as their new manager and his experience will help the club move forward. “We are really pleased we have been able to secure Kye as manager as we look to continue the development and progression of Portishead Town,” he said. “Eamonn has set the ground work and the foundations, alongside Dave Hewitt and myself, for a strong and steady pathway from the juniors and we are eternally grateful for all the volunteer coaches and managers and junior level in producing such talent. “Kye is a Portishead resident and has been for 12 years or so now and his family are born and bred here so it’s a real pleasure to bring in someone is such quality and experience for Eamonn to pass the baton on too and to take the next step. “Mounts’ contacts and experience will further cement the standards we have building and trying to implement and now with Mounts you have someone who is known by the local talent of his playing CV”.
