Barrows (pictured) joins the Iron from National League side Altrincham on a one-year deal, effective from July 1st, 2023. The 25-year-old, born in Sheffield, had joined the Robins in May 2022 from King`s Lynn Town, who were relegated to the National League North at the end of the 2021/22 season. He had joined the Linnets in March 2019 from Grantham Town where he had been since July 2018 having previously played for FC Halifax Town. The right-back started his career at Scunthorpe before being released at the age of 15. After playing in the Manchester Elite squad for a year, he signed for FC Halifax where he became the 2014/15 student player of the year. He also spent part of the 2016/17 season on loan to Frickley Athletic where he scored 4 goals in 7 appearances and went on loan to North Ferriby United the following season. He made 37 appearances for the Gingerbreads in the 2018/19 season scoring 4 goals and 9 for Lynn. Kian Scales signs a one-year deal, also effective from July 1st, 2023. The 21-year-old will arrive at Glanford Park following the expiration of his contract with SkyBet League Two side Bradford City, with his long association with the side coming to an end. He joined the Bantams in 2014 before progressing through the academy set-up to sign a professional contract in July 2020. He was handed his debut with the side in the EFL Trophy and went on to play nearly every minute of the group stages of the competition. His success in those performances lead him to be handed his League debut four days after the final of three group cup matches in a 2-2 home draw against Exeter City before he was handed his full league debut on December 1st, 2020 against Cheltenham Town at Valley Parade. He made a total of 23 appearances for the side in his breakthrough season, and his second league start came against the Iron back on March 23rd, 2021 at Glanford Park before he celebrated netting his first senior goal four days later in a 2-1 win at Colchester United - a strike which was later voted as the club’s goal of the month. Over the last two seasons, Scales has made loan spells to fellow National League North side Farsley Celtic, first playing 6 games in all competitions in 2021/22 before returning to the Citadel last season to play in 42 of their league games, scoring 3 goals, also adding a further 2 goals and 4 appearances in their cup competitions.
