The Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central play-off winners have seen five of their promotion-winning group agree to stay at Dales Lame. Jourdain Masidi will be continuing on his fantastic journey with The Pics in 2023/24. The managers` player of the season for 2022/23, Jourdai Masidi, performed such a vital role as one of the unsung heroes of the team. The 25-year-old joined the Pics in November 2021 from then-league rivals Bromsgrove Sporting. McDonald told https://www.rofc.co.uk: “Jourdain’s game improved so much over the course of last season. “His energy levels, commitment and work off the ball was absolutely brilliant. “You don’t truly appreciate what he brings to the team until he is not there. He offers so much to us both on and off the ball and that is why he got my award last season. “It’s been a quick rise for him in the game and I am sure he will be chomping at the bit to take on this latest challenge in Step 2. He deserves every success he gets.” Midfielder Alex Moore has also committed for the 2023/24 season. He is a midfield man who oozes quality and his return from Stourbridge during the course of last season gave Rushall a major boost. “To have Scholesy here for the season ahead will be fantastic for the club,” said a delighted McDonald. “He’s a modern-day midfielder with so much ability and a wand of a left foot. “I have worked with him for a long time and it’s great that this will continue. He couldn’t resist coming back here midway through last season and it proved to be an inspired decision as he left a club in the middle of the table to one that went on to win the treble! “He has so much passion for the Pics and that is going to serve us well in the challenges that lie ahead.” Alex Fletcher made an important contribution and is a player that is sure to rise to the occasion as the club enter Step 2 football. “Fletch had a really strong season last time out,” said McDonald. “He started the campaign as one of our best players and then having dropped out of the starting line-up for a spell, he forced his way back in to become a key player for us when it mattered. “He’s a technically-gifted performer who knows exactly what I want and expect from him. He has stepped up to the plate in the big games and if he can do that over the course of the season ahead then he will be a massive player for us.” Callum Coyle has certainly shown what he is capable of over the past couple of seasons and McDonald is excited to see him do it on the National League North stage. “Callum is just an outstanding footballer,” said McDonald. “We missed him at a crucial time early last season but he finished the campaign strongly and was a catalyst to the success we enjoyed. “He is one of the most gifted lads that I have ever worked with and I can’t wait to work with him again at Step 2 during the season ahead.” And crucially, McDonald has managed to secure the services of the experienced former Walsall, Southend United and England under-17 international Sam Mantom (pictured) – one of the most gifted players McDonald has ever worked with. “There has been a lot of interest in Sam, as you would expect,” said McDonald. “I am absolutely delighted that he is staying with us. “He’s been an inspiration since he walked through the door and is such a great talent. The fans love him, and so do the players and staff. “He had to sit out the big games at the end of last season through injury but was still there at each one showing his support and that shows exactly how much the club means to him. “He is irreplaceable and I can’t wait to work with him again. He was the best player in our League last season and he will be up there again at this level. “To see him in a Pics’ shirt once more during the season ahead will be fantastic”.
