The 23-year-old is a commanding and uncompromising centre-half who stepped away from football last season after joining the Scholars in July 2022. He has got himself into fantastic shape ahead of the new campaign. Unwin moved to Chasetown from then-Vanarama National League North side Kettering Town. He had signed for the Poppies in November 2020. He had previously played for Dalton United in the West Lancs League as well as Barrow AFC in the National League. In early December 2021 he signed dual registration forms with Southern Premier Division Central side Coalville Town. Chasetown manager Mark Swann told his club’s website: “We were sorry that Tom left last season but our back line was a very difficult unit to break into. With player departures there is a huge opportunity for someone to come in and be a consistent figure at the heart of the defence”.
