The 26-year-old arrives from the Scottish Premier League side just under 12 months after moving north of the border. Formerly of Newcastle United, where he spent a decade in the academy between 2005 and 2015, he signed a professional contract in the January shortly after making his debut in an Emirates FA Cup tie against Leicester City. Four years on, he netted his first senior goal in the same competition, this time against Blackburn Rovers. During his time at the Magpies, he spent time out on loan at Gateshead, Kilmarnock and Colchester United before signing for Blyth Spartans permanently in 2019. Gaining experience of National League North, Roberts scored 17 goals in his campaign at the club, earning himself a move to Notts County, where he would register 20 goals in his time at Meadow Lane. With appearances for England under-20s and England C, he spent last season at Pittodrie but is looking forward to moving back into the English game.
