Cosgrave began his career in the academies at West Ham United and Colchester United. In 2017, the forward left Colchester and signed for Coggeshall Town, helping them to the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title, scoring 12 times in 37 appearances. At the start of the 2018/19 season, following an unsuccessful trial with Tranmere Rovers, Cosgrave signed with then National League side Havant & Waterlooville. Following a lack of consistent game time however, the forward dropped into the National League South to sign for Chelmsford City in January 2019. Cosgrave made just 13 appearances for the Clarets, before making the switch to Welling United for the start of the 2019/20 season. Having made 32 appearances for Welling, Cosgrave again dropped a league to sign for Lewes in February 2020 where the forward would make 14 appearances, scoring 5 times across two seasons both affected by Covid-19. In July 2021, Cosgrave had a successful trial with AFC Wimbledon, then in League One. However, immediately went out on loan to then-National League side Dover Athletic. He returned to Wimbledon in November to make his debut for the club in an EFL Trophy defeat against Sutton United, before immediately heading back to Dover on loan until the end of December. Cosgrave went on to feature a further 9 times for Wimbledon in League One during the 2021/22 season. In August 2022 Cosgrave joined National League side Southend United on a season-long loan and made just 10 appearances for the Shrimpers before he was recalled by Wimbledon in January 2023. One week after returning to Wimbledon, he joined National League North side King’s Lynn Town on an initial one-month loan which was then extended through to the end of the 2022/23 campaign where he would make 20 appearances, scoring 6 times as the Linnets finished second and narrowly missed out on the title, before losing to Kidderminster Harriers in the play-off semi-finals.
