The 19-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at his former club, has impressed in the Wearside League over the last three seasons. Shaw (pictured) was crowned players’ player of the year for South Moor in 2021/22 but will now step up three divisions to link up with Consett. He becomes the club's latest summer signing as manager Tony Fawcett continues to re-shape his squad ahead of the new campaign. Popular defender Ryan McKinnon is back at Consett after agreeing to re-join the club. The 27-year-old is no stranger to fans at Belle View, having made 158 appearances in Consett colours, scoring 6 goals, before leaving in 2019. Since then he has captained Tow Law Town to promotion to Division One of the Northern League, and helped Ashington to the Northern Premier League. The big centre-back spent several years at Newcastle United academy, and signed for Consett after being released. He made his debut v Sunderland RCA in August 2015, and was a member of our Durham Challenge Cup winning side of 2018. Midfielder Ben Ramsey joins Consett from Morpeth Town. The 23-year-old is a long-time transfer target, who the Steelmen tried to sign from the Highwaymen last season. He was a member of their squad which won the Northumberland Senior Cup, beating Blyth Spartans at Newcastle United’s St James’s Park. A product of the Park View Academy at Chester-le-Street, he played his first senior football at Chester-le-Street United. He had trials at Gateshead, Sunderland and Stoke City, and spent the past four seasons with Morpeth. Goalkeeper Aaron Steavens joins Consett from North Shields. The 19-year-old agreed terms after the Robins were relegated back to the Northern League over ground grading issues. He made 17 appearances for Shields last season, keeping seven clean sheets. He is a young keeper who attended South Shields` academy, picking up Northern League experience on loan at Guisborough Town and Seaham Red Star. He joins Consett after the departures of Mark Foden to Shildon and Ross Coombe to Ashington. Teenage midfielder Harvey Smith, who played for England Schoolboys last season, is another new Consett signing. The 18-year-old, who is another graduate of the South Shields` academy, joins the Steelmen from Northern League Division One side Whickham. Harvey is the son of former South Shields player Barrie Smith, and is a box-to-box midfielder who has also played for Tow Law Town. Attacking midfielder Kaleb Young also joins from Whickham. Manager Tony Fawcett returned to his old club for the 21-year-old, who joined Whickham from Birtley Town in December 2021. The Birtley lad did a two-year scholarship at Morecambe, then signed for Hebburn Town after being released. After Covid he joined his local side Birtley Town for a season before joining Whickham, where he played under Tony Fawcett. He was part of the squad which finished in a best-ever seventh-place in the Northern League Division One in 2021/22, weighing in with several goals and assists.
