Planning permission was granted in August 2017 for a modern new football ground, situated to the north west of the existing site at Victoria Park.
The club has now announced that a full planning application for a ‘shared ownership’ affordable housing development on Victoria Park has been submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council.
As Burscough secretary Steve Halliwell explained, this proposed new development will fund the cost of the new football ground.
“The principle of the redevelopment for housing at Victoria Park has been established through the strategy adopted for new football ground,” he told the league`s Ian Templeman.“This application should therefore be viewed as part of a wider strategy to secure the long-term future of Burscough FC.
“We’re pleased to have secured the significant interest of a well-respected and local housing association to bring this application forward.
“The intended 52 homes, configured as affordable flats & houses for rent & shared ownership bringing new residents into Burscough, complements the desire for the village’s sustainable viability and vitality.
“The application is available for public examination at the planning authority’s website, with a developer’s statement that makes reference to our football club’s future stadium”. |
