Andy Coyles has been put in temporary charge of the Blues and has invited Workington reserve team manager Billy Redden to become an assistant at Frenchfield.
Redden, who played for Workington reserves alongside Coyles 15 years ago, returned to Borough Park to manage the Reds Ladies team before taking over the running of the Lancashire League team in 2016 and was into his third season in charge.
Redden, a former goalkeeper, said he was reluctant to leave the Reds but felt it was a good opportunity to work alongside the well-respected Coyles, enhancing his own coaching career in the process.
“I’ve had a brilliant time over the last two and half seasons and I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given by the management (Dabba and Lee) and everyone at the club.
“Being part of the first-team set-up last season was an honour and I’ve learned so much which I hope will stand me in good stead moving forward. It’s been very challenging at times keeping the reserves going but very satisfying when the players make that step-up to the first team. Dabba and Lee have been superb at bridging the gap between the first and reserves team.”
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the club and I leave with a heavy heart but look forward to a new challenge,” concluded Redden.
Lee McCullough, reserve team assistant at Workington, will take control of the team with immediate effect.
