Former skipper Steve Sheehan returns to the Rocks after a five-year break where the was with Billericay Town, and more recently Bostik League North side Canvey Island.

Sheehan made 192 appearances and scored 15 goals in two spells with Canvey, making his debut back in 2011.

He originally returned to the Rocks ranks in 2012 after a first spell with neighbouring Gulls.

He was a member of the Rocks’ promotion-winning team from the Ryman One North but missed a large part of the following season after sustaining a broken leg in a league match at Metropolitan Police but battled back from injury to play a key part in the club's run-in to the season which earned them a promotion play-off place.

The 28-year-old central defender was part of Coventry`s Thurrock schools squad back in the day.

Coventry told the club`s website: "I've bought Steve in to bolster our defence.

"He deserves this opportunity to test himself at National South level."

He follows the arrival of experienced central midfielder Reece Prestedge, who has played most of his football at National League level.

The 32-year-old numbers Dagenham & Redbridge, Bromley and Maidstone United amongst his previous clubs.

Coventry has brought Prestedge in to add some experience to Rocks` youthful midfield.

Also joining is 20-year-old Jonathan Nzengo from ground tenants and Bostik North side Romford.

Nzengo has impressed Coventry with his displays at left-back for the Boro this season, although he appears to be equally at home in a forward role and was Romford's leading scorer last season.

Nzengo was previously with Ware and Maldon & Tiptree.

Coventry`s final addition is forward Gokan Can, who holds a French passport, but has recently been playing in Turkish football.

Coventry said: "He has impressed while training with us for a few weeks now while we sorted out his international clearance."

Coventry also confirmed that Danilo Orsi-Dadomo had left the club, while Gabe Kellum is on dual registration at Canvey Island.
