Big
6`6” goalkeeper Jake Jessup joins Regent after a short spell with Isthmian
North side Cambridge City.
Jessup (pictured) had only been with City since November after joining Southern League Premier
Division Central outfit Leiston in the summer from league rivals Needham
Market.
A
real presence in goal, he joined the Marketmen in July 2018 from Chelmsford
City where he played in the end of season Vanarama National League South
play-off final.
He
was also formerly with Mildenhall Town and Lowestoft Town.
Striker
Joe Maybanks returns to Regent for a second spell from Thurlow Nunn League
Premier Division side Stanway Rovers.
The
23-year-old started out with Braintree Town, where he spent time out on loan at
Bury Town and AFC Sudbury before leaving the Iron in the summer of 2017 for
Bishop`s Stortford.
Three
months later he re-joined AFC Sudbury but left there after just a few weeks to
sign for Essex Senior Leaguers Saffron Walden Town in November 2017.
He
was on the move once more in May 2018, this time for his first spell with
Brightlingsea before signing for Stanway in the summer.
The
third new arrival is forward Lewis Byrne-Hewitt, who joins from Isthmian North
outfit Witham Town.
Byrne-Hewitt
started out at Norwich City as a first-year academy scholar in the summer of
2013 after he was released by Arsenal.
He
joined Billericay Town August 2016 after his release from Carrow Road and
trialled with Cheltenham Town the following October.
Since
then he has had spells of varying lengths with Whyteleafe, Ware, VCD Athletic,
Maldon & Tiptree.
And
finally, youngster Sam Coombes has been snapped up from Isthmian North side
Maldon & Tiptree.
Coombes
was an unused sub in the Jammers` big Emirates FA Cup Second Round tie with
SkyBet League Two side Newport County last month and appeared 18 times in the
first team squad this season in total.
Meanwhile, long-serving
defender Josh Gould has joined Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side FC
Clacton on dual registration.
Gould
returned to Regent after travelling in 2014 and soon became a lynchpin in the
side that gained promotion to the Isthmian League and enjoyed an excellent FA
Vase run.
A
solid no-nonsense defender originally with Stanway Rovers, he enjoyed an
excellent second half to the club`s first season at Step 3 in 2017/18. |
