Herbert has a wealth of experience at Step 6, having lead Woodley United to promotion to Step 5 and winning the Berks & Bucks Cup before moving onto Sandhurst Town where he had lead his team to the Berks & Bucks final before the COVID-19 outbreak brought a halt to the season.

He is a UEFA B coach qualified coach and enjoyed a successful period as player before turning his attentions to management.

Herbert will be assisted by Darryl Jelly, his assistant at Sandhurst.

Penn & Tylers Green chairman Tony Hurst told https://www.ptgfc.co.uk: “We are delighted to have secured the services of a highly qualified and experienced manager in Michael.

“We have tracked his progress over the last few years after crossing swords during his time as Woodley manager and we are delighted to have secured the services of a young, ambitious, qualified, experienced winning manager.

“The process has been long and thorough, and we have interviewed many candidates for the position.  We believe that with the completion on our pitch, new floodlights and the infrastructure we already have in place, we are set up to give Michael the best opportunity to bring success on the pitch to Penn. More importantly, with the implementation of our senior football pathway we are hoping to attract and develop the best young footballers in the local area and having a successful first team is an important element of that plan”.
