Club
chairman Stuart Bonser said: “It is with great pleasure that the club has
appointed Chris Wood to the position of senior coach, and this further
strengthens Andy Gray`s management team and signifies his quest to move the
club forward.
“Chris
really impressed us at the interview and his ethos and beliefs were aligned with
our `one club` approach and he comes to us with a lot of experience in coaching
and played as a youngster at Crawley Town.”
Wood
said: “I can`t wait to get started, whenever the current situation clears, and
we are safely allowed to do so.
“Working
with Andy Gray is a big pull and too good an opportunity to turn down.
“I
love the `one club` philosophy, and I know that it is a young, talented group
of guys that we have to work with and help with their development.”
The
club is committed to its plans to progress the on-field ambitions and bring
Step 4 football to Ashby in the coming few years.
This
is further testament to the work that goes on behind the scenes at the club and
Bonser added: “I have always believed that Ashby has the key components to progress
and sustain a Step 4 football club.
“To
achieve this we have to run parallel with what we are doing on the field to
what we are doing off it and I feel that we are now poised to make that push in
the coming seasons.”
Manager
Andy Gray (pictured) added: “I`m delighted that Chris has decided to join
Ashby. He will be a great addition to our coaching staff and we are all very
much looking forward to working with him.
“He
shares the footballing ethics of our club and is an ideal appointment as we
continue to strengthen on and off the pitch”. |
