Committing for another season with the Citizens are goalkeeper Charlie Crowley and midfielders George Ironton and Joe Bennett.

Crowley, 27, originally joined City in August 2020 from new league rivals and then-Isthmian South Central side, Waltham Abbey.

He had signed for Ware in the summer of 2019 and then switched to the Abbots in September 2019.

An experienced custodian who has enjoyed a long career in non-League football having played for Hoddesdon Town, Grays Athletic, Wingate & Finchley, Whitehawk, Hayes & Yeading United, Kings Langley, Whitehawk, Waltham Forest, Potters Bar Town, Enfield Town and Cheshunt.

Ironton is the 25-year-old son of manager Nicky, who re-joined the club in June 2019 having just missed out on promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League in 2018/19 with Tring Athletic.

He previously had played for his father at Arlesey Town and Ware.

He has also turned out for Cockfosters and Hitchin Town.

Bennett, 28, initially signed for City in December 2020 having moved back to live in Hertfordshire.

He previously lived and played his football in West Suffolk, where he played for Thurlow Nunn League side Newmarket Town for the previous three seasons.

When originally Herts based, he was with Potters Bar Town and also had a short spell with Soham Town Rangers.

It’s a second spell at Herns Way as he played a couple of pre-season friendlies in a Claret shirt in 2017/18.

Moving from Essex Senior League side Hoddesdon Town is forward Cyrus Babaie (pictured).

The attacker impressed in the club`s end of season friendlies for the under-23s and manager Nicky Ironton was quick to acquire his services.

Babaie made his debut for Hoddesdon back in November 2017 and totalled 102 games and scored 18 goals for the club.

City have also signed two members of last season`s successful under-23 squad on first-team forms.

Young midfielder Harrison Cage was the under-23s top goalscorer last year and now has a point to prove and will be challenging for a first-team place.

Young defender Ryan Doherty has also put pen-to-paper.

He was the under-23s players’ player and managers` player of the year, who was also part of the senior squad that took part in the Buildbase FA Trophy at the backend of last season.
