Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central club Wantage Town have signed young midfielder Rhys King and defender Luke Quarterman.

Originally on the books at Championship side Reading, 19-year-old King joins the Fred`s from Vanarama National League South neighbours Oxford City.

 

King impressed at City last season, making him a target for a few clubs.

 

He finished as top scorer with 19 goals from 28 appearances last season from midfield.

 

Manager Matt Biddle told his club`s website: “We are delighted to get Rhys involved and signed on for the coming season and we can’t wait for him to show more of what he has in the locker.”

 

Wantage have also signed defender Luke Quarterman from City`s under-23 side.

 

The 22-year-old was previously on the books with the Fred`s league rivals Kidlington and at Hellenic Leaguers Abingdon United.

 

Biddle added: “Luke has shown us what he can do in training he will be a very good addition to this squad, and I can’t wait for him to get started in the league campaign”.
